Training an octopus to touch piano keys

As a training, it’s quite an amazing achievement for both the persistent trainer and the patient animal. But beyond that, what does this tell us? Of course, the octopus has not become a pianist, simply because playing piano does not make any sense in his life.

The story rather shows that determined humans are able to make animals do strange things while animals are indulgent enough as long as they are treated well. This is the basic message: treat animals well — and forget about making them behave like humans. They are marvellous the way they are.
